Assuring equal access to education
Race and poverty continue to be significant predictors of school achievement in this country and many other parts of the globe. Understanding the roots of this pervasive pattern is one link in a strategy to overturn it. Designing and tracking the impact of changes in educational policy and practice is another. Faculty here at the University of Michigan are studying these patterns and seeking explanations that can help to change them. Michigan researchers are also documenting interventions designed to make a difference, and evaluating their effectiveness.
