Applying to the Master of Arts in Educational Studies - Digital Media and Education

Application Deadlines

We only accept applications to begin the program in Fall term, which begins in early September.

Note: Deadlines indicate the date by which all application components should be received, including those from external sources such as test scores, letters of recommendation, and transcripts.

Round 1: January 1 - Applicants notified in late February. Admitted students who applied in Round 1 will receive priority for scholarship funding and have the opportunity to attend Campus Visit Day in March.

Round 2: February 1 - Applicants notified in late March.  Students applying to multiple institutions are strongly encouraged to apply in Round 1 or 2.

After February 1, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions returned within 6-8 weeks of date on which all application components are received and complete.

Final Application Deadline for International Students: April 1

Final Application Deadline for U.S. Students: June 1

This program, like all of the School of Education's graduate programs, is administered through the University of Michigan's Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies (Rackham) (as are most non-professional graduate degrees at the university). Rackham offers a host of resources and administrative support to help see you through from submitting your application to completion of your degree. We encourage you to follow these steps to begin the application process.

Register as a prospective student and obtain a UMID (University of Michigan ID) number. Having a UMID number will aid in the processing of your application.

Complete the Rackham online application. Review the application checklist to ensure your submit a complete application. Please note the academic statement of purpose, personal statement of purpose, resume, and letters of recommendation must be submitted using the online application system. Hard copies will not be accepted.

Submit your GRE scores. Test scores must be sent electronically to Rackham Graduate School (institution code: 1839) through Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Submit your transcripts. All applicants are required to mail one set of transcripts (in their sealed institutional envelope) for all previous bachelor’s, master’s, professional, and doctoral degrees to:
